Commisions?

Post by Aaron »

Hi there,

I was wondering if you did commisions? I am a huge fan, I have been out
of comics for a while (a reader), but I am a graphic designer and have
to say you were my favourite artist! I used to get Excalibur, X-man,
New mutants and your artwork for Wolverine vs Sabretooth still burn in
my mind!

The commision is nothing amazing? Not even sure what I want or could
afford! I have a gym and love grappling so maybe a wrestling picture in
the vain of Wolverine vs Sabretooth cover of gritted teeth? Or something from greek times as I train in Pancrase (an artform that originated in Greece called Pankration). I know this is pie in the sky, but with some cool typography in the vein of Gustav klimt or something? If I am living in a dreamworld asking you this, let me know! It would be great to blow it
up and stencil it on my gym wall.... what (if you would even consider!)
charge for a pencil and/or ink drawing for some thing like that? I
wouldn't re-sell or anything, just for personal pleasure. I know you
must get thousands of requests, but if you don't ask you don't get!

Well, even if the answer is no ( which I can appreciate with you being
a world famous artist)! then please hold in the knowledge that it was
your fantastic graphic style that interested me in the arts and l now
am lucky enough to own my own brandng, print and web design company and earn my living through design after your inspired introduction.

Warm regards

Aaron

Hi Aaron

Thanks for your kind words but I'm afraid that, at least for the moment, I won’t be doing commissions. My wrist injury has put me way behind schedule so I need to spend any time at the drawing board on the FF— But even before my recent delay, I have always prefered drawing stories and don’t regard myself as an illustrator.
Since many of the sketches I have drawn show up on the internet I have decided to only produce work to a ‘publishable’ standard and any commission rate would reflect that.

Sorry I can’t be more accommodating.

Hi Alan,
I just wanted to take the time to thank you for your reply. I can appreciate how busy you are, what I may do though, is try and put together my own stencil of something on my gym wall from your work (quite easy with my scanner, and illustrator/photoshop skills), if I am successfulI will take a photo of my gym wall and email you :-)
Keep up the great work
Warm regards
