However you managed to put it all together, still a stunning piece and the phoenix effect is fabulous, puts most colourists to shame for sure.

Would make a great poster.

All the best

Michael, Alan will no doubt know better than me, but here's my two penniesworth. From my experience, Jim is talking a lot of sense, talk to artists and editors at cons, let them see your work and listen to the suggestions they make about how to improve, if needed ( always carry a notebook to write d...

I agree with Jm. Seeing some of the stuff you've already posted is a real treat, and I'd certainly be interested in seeing more. To expand a little more on my first post, I find it fascinating... not just the finished page of art we all see printed, but all the prelim stuff that goes into making it....

Wow, been awhile since I saw some of those ClanDestine sketches... I was lucky enough to see some of the final designs that you'd photocopied and sent to Phil Clarke of Nostalgia&Comics to use as promotion for the Clan signing you and Mark did ( I was working on a strip for Phil's ill fated antholog...

Thanks for the recommendation Jim, I use to have a few Rapiographs made by rotring, but defected to the Isographs that Staedtler make, soley because they seem to be less trouble to clean and a damn sight cheaper, I tend to only use them for background stuff, normally buildings, panel borders or for ...

Cheers Alan. I'd heard mention of someone using cotton buds to block in large black areas, didn't realize it was Dave Gibbons. Have to try that and spare my poor brushes I think the recipe may have changed slighty or that there maybe something different in that production batch, as the bottle I'd us...

Cheers for the tip Darren, I'll give that a try

I've tried indian ink too, but I found it blocked the the brushes ferrule splitting the hairs like crazy if they're not cleaned out throughly, ruined a couple of brushes that way and why I went with the rotring ink.

All the best.

Hello Mr Davis, I thought I'd take you up on the offer to answer any art related questions that we may all have. I'm also throwing this open to anyone who might be able to give me an answer to this as it's driving me up the wall. I'm currently using Rotring ink which is great while inking with a bru...

Thank you for a very comprehensive answer, Alan. I agree about trying to get more new blood into buying comics, it doesn't seem to be as easy to get into them these days, I missed out on buying anything for a while and trying to catch up with characters etc was a nightmare, very few books carry the ...

This is turning into a really interesting thread. I totally agree about the current state of the industry being caused a long time ago, I glossed over that, thinking most people here would already be aware of the whole thing . I'm sure most of us have read your interviews and comments both in print ...

Cheers for the answers, Alan. It a real shame that a gem like the ClanDestine was allowed to slip through the cracks, but I'm glad we got an all but brief glimpse of them, and as you've said before, 'never say never'. Now, I'm going to shoot myself in the foot and end any hope of ever working for on...

Kind of jumping onto what Wonderdallas posted, it's a pity Marvel don't produce a series along the lines of the 'elsewhere' books DC did. I think it would be the perfect solution to all of us Clan junkies who need another fresh fix of Adam and co. ( big fan of Dom myself, I share the same grumpy nat...
