You're most unlikely to offend an inker that way but they may not be prepared to ink at a convention for a variety of reasons. They're far more likely to have sketching pens with them than brush and ink simply because they're much easier and safer to travel with. It never hurts to ask though. Someth...

Marvel and DC return the original art as a 'gift' I wouldn't want to see this little snippet go out onto the internet without noting that while Marvel may still try and say that they're gifting us the physical artwork it's been nearly 20 years now since Dick Giordano, Paul Levitz and Jenette Kahn s...

Hi John. I'd be happy to sign any pages you bring along. I believe you have some nice stuff I did with Liam. I'll have with me the pages I have left from the issues I've worked on with Alan (Thor, Iron Man, X-Man) so there will be at least some pages available there. As far as I know both Alan and I...

The Bristol Comic Expo has finally started updating it's guest list. If you scroll about a third of the way down this page you'll find Alan has been added to the list. http://www.comicexpo.net/guests.html And if you scroll all the way to the bottom you'll see that I'll be there too. :) I hope some o...

With projects like this they probably don't have a budget for any new art so they just get someone in production to trace an image that's almost what they want.

Not too sure about the windex... I know that brushes have a normal life span of 'x' amount of years depending on how you look after them, but wouldn't the chemicals in the windex damage the sable hair of the brush in a shorter period of time? I've never tried it myself but some inkers tell me it's ...

I though you were from the U.K!?
Not all that recent, Darren. I moved from East Sussex to New York just over 7 years ago. :)

I usually pay about $25 U.S. dollars per pen. Oh, you don't want to pay that much unless you really need a specific size. Dick Blick has a 7 pen set for just $49.98. http://www.dickblick.com/zz210/03/ As for ink for brush and nib I'm happy with Pelikan. Whatever ink you use I'd disagree with Alan h...

Some additions to Jim Warden's site: Iron Man #64, pages 14 & 15, are at www.whatashock.com/doasales/ad2.html I have to say that spread was the standout piece from those issues and a lot of fun to work on. It's a real steal at only $1,000. If it had been in my returns I'd have been asking twice tha...

Re: Introductions! Who are you?

5) What was your first comic? X-Men 35, Aug '94. Drawn by Liam Sharp who was filling in for Andy Kubert. I kept buying the title even though i had absolutely no idea what was going on. Then Age of Apocolypse happened. Imagine how confused i was then! However, i was hooked from then on. I may not be...

Re: Mastering the figure in three dimensions

Also, have you ever thought of doing an art instruction book, pass on what you have learned? If he did, Andrew, it would be great as Alan is one of the best people I've met at explaining the "how and why" of what he does. But to be honest, as much as I'd love to see a "how to' book from Alan I'd mu...

1) Robin Riggs 2) I'm from East Sussex in England but for getting on for 7 years now I've been living in New York. 3) 43 4) Whatever his most recent work is at any given point as he just gets better and better as he refines his craft. The work I return to most often is probably JLA: THE NAIL as it's...
