Re: Thanks to Alan

I agree, Gordon. I too had picked up the Robin Hood book the year before last at the Bristol Con, but now hearing that Mr Bellamy's widow hadn't recieved any form of payment for the work being reproduced, well, it's left a nasty taste in the mouth. Thank you Alan for sharng the pieces of Frank's wor...

Re: Alan Davis Website

Congratulations on becoming a Grandfather. The big question is will you be doing what every grandparent is supposed to do?...That is telling the new parents that they're about to get all the sleepness nights and worry that you and Heather had when they were babies paid back in full? Once again, cong...

Re: The evolution of your drawing style

Cheers Alan, I thought the Stan Drake experiment might have been something along the lines of shadows creating form to the figure or faces, using the method of tracing to allow the shading to give a volumetric form to the drawing...see, I'm trying not to presume so much from our previous thread disc...

Re: The evolution of your drawing style

Hi Alan, The development of someones style is something I find very interesting. I know that when we've discussed this in the past ( on Matt's previous forum board) you had mentioned that part of your style..or anyones style developes partly from the artistic shortcuts that you use/discover overtime...

No worries. I had a quick scout around and found this place http://www.tricoblue.com/leads_&_leadholders.htm , scroll down to the fine lead section and they might be the Pentel Blue, I'm not too sure as to whether these are the same leads that I found here in my local art supply store here in the UK...

I tend to use the non-photo blue for laying out the page and roughing in the figures, perspective etc before switching over to my regular H or 2H pencils due to me emailing pages off to an inker. I was using Prismacolor blue pencils, but I found the lead to be a little too waxy and I seemed to be fo...

I'd read about this scam on Digital Webbing.

It might be an idea to post the pages there, someone might know who did them.

All the best.

Hi Alan, I was checking something out today for a project that I'm involved in with a few indie creators, the project is a one off team based book with their respective heroes, but the creators have all decided that they really want to included one of the many now available Public Domain characters ...

Thanks for the answer, Alan For some unknown reason after reading the part about the near riot over The Dark Phoenix Saga and Watchmen, I have images of West Side Story running through my head. I think your work does capture the entertainment value that you mentioned loving about the Silver age book...

Hi Alan, For once I have a question that's non-related to art...not very often that happens, but what the hey. I was talking to a couple of people I do work for, and one of the sideline topics that cropped up in the emails were classic stories from years ago, now as good as the originals were, the '...

Hi Alan, I know from trawling the web for reference pics for cars/building etc, certain sites disable the ability to download images, I'm not sure if this could be a possible solution to the problem or not. As an *ahem* artist myself, While it's great to see the finished pencils for pages before Mar...

To be perfectly honest, I was disappointed with nearly all the programmes in the Comics Brittania season. The main title programme itself had that undertone of sneering at the medium for my taste, rather than celebrating it. The only decent interviews in the whole series were with Leo Baxendale...an...

Haven't picked up the HC, but I did buy the issues when they were released.
Beautiful stuff indeed, both Alan and Mark firing on all cylinders as per usual.
