Re: Nightcrawler's powers

I always liked that you gave him the power of absolute awareness of where he was, relative to where he had been, when teleporting.

Lovely little story about meeting Alan

Hi Alan There's a particularly great story on tumblr at the moment about a fan getting to meet you, and getting the sketch of her dreams from you http://nobiliorpomis.tumblr.com/post/97157987364/alan-davis-signature-quest To say you made her day/week/year is understating it a little I suspect. :) (A...

Re: Question about an Excalibur page - Meggan & Captain Brit

It seems to me that quoting the gospel according to a preferred writer with evangelical zeal will inevitably result with a panel from a comic page being taken out of context (as in the first post of this thread) to rewrite history to defend a creed This is, of course, true, and I offer my apologies...

Re: Question about an Excalibur page - Meggan & Captain Brit

Again, you're making rather sweeping assumptions about alcoholism as a condition. There IS no "strict definition" of what counts as alcoholism. Yes, many people go through instances some of what I cited now and again, but in the case of someone with an alcohol problem, it's not "now and again", it's...

Re: Question about an Excalibur page - Meggan & Captain Brit

Alcoholism comes in many shades, it's not always about not being able to stop drinking, though that is perhaps the most severe situation, it's about alcohol becoming something you depend on too much, it can be drinking too much, or drinking at the wrong time, or not being able to NOT take a drink, o...

Re: Question about an Excalibur page - Meggan & Captain Brit

Not a full blown alcoholic, no, and I certainly didn't read the scene above that way, but Brian has admitted to an alcohol problem, specifically in the generally very enjoyable Warren Ellis "Excalibur go to the pub for a night out" issue (Worth it just too read Moira MacTaggarts accent getting more ...

There appears to be a great deal of controversy over David Mack's apparent "swiping" of much of the art in his most recent Avengers (#39) including some of Alan's work, from "Wolverine:Bloodlust" http://img178.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mackdavisvd0.jpg The original defence offered by Mack was that ...

A holy grail achieved! YAY!! Detective Comics 569 artwork

Well, I lucked out on this one and no mistake. A page of Alan and Paul's work from the first issue of their Mike W Barr Detective Comics run, and what a page! Stoic Batman, cute Robin, scary Joker (doing Jack Skellington 6 years early), a caged Catwoman, fun henchman, and a good old fashioned Silver...

Re: Introductions! Who are you?

Welcome everybody to the Alan Davis forums! We have about 30 members now, so I thought it would be good for everyone to get to know each other. 1) What is your real name? (c'mon, you have nothing to hide!) 2) Where you from? 3) How old are you? 4) What is your favorite Alan Davis work? 5) What was ...

Yeah, but how many of them aren't (or haven't been)

a) Related to the Summers or Lensherr family

b) Tediously generic energy blasters and / or

c) killed pointlessly in recent New X-Men

Hi Jim, It's a great place to look through some great art. Alan's work is fairly scarce and is often not shown as too many collectors want it. It's extremely sought after. If you want to look at one awesome gallery go to "Gary Land" as he has one of the nicest collections of Alan's work around. Bet...

Just wanted to share - Splash page for New Mutants Annual #3

Many years ago, when a student just leaving Strathclyde Uni to start a career, I blew most of my then savings on something I saw hanging up at AKA Books and Comics. A great shop BTW, is it still there? Anyway, I was always a Cypher fan, (For those too young to remember him, he was the most gloriousl...
